Update

Hey wordpress,

I felt the need to update you all on what’s been going on lately, and what I have (maybe) planned for the future.

As it would seem, it’s currently end of semester here at Uni, and things have been… well, crazy, to say the least. I have finals starting next week and upcoming projects due, so I have been sadly neglecting the internet.

But I have some exciting news! My two best friends and I are starting a YouTube page hopefully at the end of this month! I am so excited about it because we have been talking about it for quite some time now, but plans were never really set in motion. But now we’ve finally decided we are going to do it and I could not be happier. It will be split into 3 segments, one for each of us, which will include book reviews, health and wellness, and, of course, fashion. As well, we’ll be doing Vlogs of the three of us (or sometimes individual or in a pair), which I think will be the best part. I’ve been thinking about doing my own YouTube channel, but since this opportunity came up, I just couldn’t say no. It’s going to be a blast! Look out for me mentioning it in the future.

I will hopefully be doing an OOTD this week (fingers crossed) and once exams are done, I’ll be doing more fashion posts and trend reports.

Until next time,

Jasmine.

OOTD: Kid at Heart

Image

Bright lights and arcade games set the stage for this look. It was one of those days that I just felt young, and I wanted to express that through my outfit. I put on my oxblood polkadotted skater skirt, along with a lace long-sleeved shirt for a cute and child-like look. On top of all that, I wore my trusty over-sized denim vest, that I DIYed with studs (and my little “I love GD” pin, because I always gotta be reppin’ my fandom. VIP until whenever). I love the way the lace shirt looks with the rough and tough denim.

Thanks to Sonia for trying to get good lighting in this dark little space!

Being a Full Time Student

Mixing fashion, school, and work is overwhelming. Writing for the newspaper, taking on a full course load, plus working at Le Chateau has got me exhausted. Sigh.

I apologize in advance for being so slow on my posts, but as you can see from my first sentence, I have a ton on my plate at this moment. I will try and do a post every Thursday and either Saturday or Sunday. Thursday will more than likely be OOTD, due to the fact that I have my photographer that day (yay Sonia!). The weekend posts might be more trend or written posts. We’ll see. I write the fashion columns for my university’s newspaper, so doing one of those every week and plus a news column occasionally kind of makes me not want to write a full-fledged fashion article on here (and, alas, I cannot re-post what I send in to my editor because that, ladies and gents, is copyright infringement. I think.). But again, we shall see. Maybe I will feel up to it.

Also, I run a Tumblr, though that does not take much effort. But it is a vital part of my life that I am completely and utterly unwilling to give up. Sorry I’m not sorry.

If you all didn’t know, I have started this blog as a way to get going on my fashion journalism career that I am currently pursuing. Yes, it’s a bit far-fetched, thinking I could run a successful fashion blog, but I am one to dream big. I am still learning so much about fashion, and I find this is the best place to express my growing knowledge and, again, learn more. So, bare with me.

Until next time,

Jasmine.

OOTD: Spring is on it’s Way

Image

The one thing I both love and hate about living on the west coast is the constant showers of rain. It can be peaceful and tranquil at one moment, and then transform into a hideous monster of a storm the next. Today was, unfortunately, one of those days, hence why the shots are taken in two separate places: one in-door and one out.

Therefore, I wanted to channel the spirit of a west coast spring, while sticking to a trend that I absolutely love for S/W 2013: pastels. This is where my mint, almost sea foam green blazer came into play. It’s comfortable and chic, making it the perfect statement piece to throw on over a neutral outfit.  For extra comfort, I wore my trusty black maxi, and slipped on my Jeffrey Campbell Litas for additional height. My accessories are simple; I wanted to keep it minimal. Personally, I might even take off the necklace I had worn, to keep it even cleaner.

Please forgive my hideous facial expressions in both shots. It was cold and wet and I am not a model. Probably never will be. I should smile more.

Thanks once again to the amazing Sonia for making me look fantastic and tall in these photos (seriously I look like an amazon compared to my in real life height). She’s such a trooper, standing out in the cold and wet just to get a few good shots! You’re the best.

Minnie Mouse Tank: Berlin Market
Maxi Skirt: Ebay
JC Litas: Urban Outfitters

Until next time,

First Post

Well hello there, lovelies.

As my first initial post, I just want to clarify a few things regarding the content that I will be posting and this blog in general.

First and foremost, this is a fashion-based blog. Though there might be a few posts regarding my personal life and my interests excluding fashion, it will mainly be about, well, fashion.

Secondly, this is a completely open site, so feel totally free to comment if you have an opinion or share a post. Seriously, I would love if you would do that. Even if the opinion is saying that my own opinion is terrible or that my writing sucks. Any feedback is constructive feedback, in my personal opinion.

Finally, (yes I know this was short) I want to say that this site is still a work in progress, as I am just getting into the swing of things here on wordpress and transitioning from Tumblr (but I will never leave Tumblr–that is utterly impossible). With that in mind, please bare with me.

Links to my social media, including Tumblr and Twitter, have been posted in the links section of my blog. Feel free to follow on any of those sites and I will gladly follow you back.

Until next time,

Jasmine.
